#19. Should school attendance be mandatory? In your answer, be sure to explore what the function of education is, and what our nation would look like if the masses were less educated.

Education is emphazised in the United States very often, since education is free up to the last year of high school people expect students to at least get a high school diploma.Attendence is a big issue in school, as students dont make the rigth decision and ditch to be with the friends or boy/girlfriend.Most teenagers in high school don't think if looking ahead and see how ditching class can affect them in the future, for example if a student ditches the day a big test is given and when they comeback the teacher does not allow them to retake it, it will have a substancial toll on their grade.I believe that the goverment and school districts should emphazise and enforce tardies and unexcused apcences for students. The school gets money for every kid that goes to school, If one kid doesn't the school is losing money which at a certain point affects the students if the school isn't constantly receiving the money it is supposed to. If the United Stes system of education was less effective a higher percentage of the nation would be uneducated. If more people were uneducated, who would take the high ranking positions of our nation? Controlling our best interest politicaly and financially, our nation would be mediocre as our standards would decrease and our nation which stand as one of the most advanced in most areas of technology and life would decrease as the people running it wouldn't be educated enough to run it properly and effectively. For exmple, what if President Barack Obama had not attended Harvard and only had a high school diploma ? Would he be the demanding leader of our nation or a man with a high school diploma working an avargae job?If one is educated anything can be accomplished .
